According to the National Weather Service, the sun will have difficulty fighting in the clouds on Long Island this week with a chance of rain except Thursday.
Sunday brings a 20% chance of showers after 11 am a day otherwise mostly cloudy with a maximum of just below 80 degrees, the weather service said. The chance of precipitation increases to about 40% at night when the temperature drops to about 70.
Chances of rain and thunder on Monday stood at 50%, and some of those storms could bring heavy rain, forecasters said. The high is expected to remain in the 1980s.
Tuesday and Wednesday both bring a slight chance of rain with highs around 80 and 83 respectively and overnight low at around 70 both days.
Thursday will be the hottest day of the week with a high of about 86 under partly sunny skies and a low night of 72.
Then rain possible again on Friday and Saturday and peak in the mid-1980s.
